  • About

  • House Calls Motorcycle Repair is exploring a new method of marketing their services of on-site motorcycle repair. They wanted to sell pre-paid memberships, using a glossy flip book advertisements.

  • Labor Summary

  • Every page was redesigned to highlight the products. The problem with this entire book, is that every page was focusing more on nice looking motorcycles, than the actual services the company provides.

  • Before

  • call to action

  • The items which stand out most on this page, are the photograph, and the website address. When faced with a lot of text, it's natural to scan the page, and see if it is worth reading.

  • What you notice first about the redesigned page, are the question posed "Why membership?" and the answer "Service at your doorstep", and the word FREE.

  • After

  • call to action

  • Before

  • hot girl on bike

  • Whlle the woman on the bike is nice, there is a lot of space that is being wasted. The picture takes up 30% of the space, then there is another 30% of blank gray space.

  • The redesigned version clearly points out the benefits of the silver program, because they're in large fonts in the center of the page.

  • The two column layout clearly lists features on the left, and the value the customer receives in the right column. All the numbers are in the right column, easier for scanning.

  • After

  • benefits of the silver program

  • Before

  • this doesn't look like gold

  • Same problems with the Silver Plan. Except, this color doesn't look like gold at all. It looks like orange. If the customer makes it this far into the book, they're probably already skipping down to the bottom of the page where the Value is.

  • The redesigns are interesting too look at, and force you to read them. With the pictures in the background, they're not taking up valuable page space, and visually appealing.

  • After

  • this just looks fast and cool

  • Before

  • platinum and silver

  • There isn't much difference in color between platinum and sliver. But what is being shown here, is just a lighter version of silver.

  • Redesigned version makes it easy to compare all three plans, because the benefits are all in the same place. This is is a flip-book so now a customer can easily flip pages to compare plans and prices. Also, there are no sqaured corners in these designs. Everything is round, and gives the impression of speed.

  • Before

  • Actually, this page doesn't make sense at all. Was something supposed to go in the middle? Was this a space to jot down notes?

  • Redesign features central box for most important information, and all text center aligned draws the eyes where you want them to be.

  • As a bonus, there was even room to restate the URL for the website once more.

  • After

  • draws the eyes where you want them to be

  • Before

  • old logo

  • They didn't have much of a logo. So a new one, even if just temporary, needed to be made for this book. The yellow box in the corner with "HCMR" is all they were using.

  • The problem with this entire book, is that every page was focusing more on nice looking motorcycles, than the actual services the company provides.
